First time experience and things i really dont like or think could be improved

TLDR: i cannot see myself using this software in its current state, it has been a pain in the ahh and actively fights me, but the software looks very promising.

installed fresh on my pc, attempted to import a bunch of layers from my paint.net session, they are 570x320 resolution, when moving around the canvas with my middle mouse button the entire window becomes laggy, from zooming out seems to fix it but that just adds extra unecessary steps to my workflow.
im using a ryzen7, a 1050ti with 4gb vram, 32gb of ram.

additionally lack of light theme is a big contender for me to not use this platform, while its a common preference to use dark theme, it actively causes linesin my eyes when reading white text on black, and its painful after some time causing serious eye strain.

with both the lag and lack of a basic feature, i cnanot see myself using this software more often than paint.net.
paint is very performant and does what i want even with a ton of plugins, it just lacks features like folders.

when i have the project open with about 20 layers or so, my camera software i use starts stuttering and lagging out.

when clicking a layer its moving the layer ui around causing my layers to randomly change position, this is obnoxious as anything can get, i actively want to burn my house down cause of it LOL

please please!!!
add the following:
Light theme
ability to mass import layers into one project so im not copy and pasting layers, dragging them in causes it to be “linked” which seems odd imo.
more responsive dragging with middle mouse wheel.
responsive UI that isnt doing random things on interactions
optional toggle for cpu based rendering, as gpu based causes system lag for me.

Thanks for the feedback!

In the following months we’ll be focusing on improving performance and stability, unfortunately GPU area is complicated and even pretty decent hardware can sometimes act very weirdly and introduce unexpected lags so CPU backend is definately something we’ll explore.

We already have a few big optimization improvements in works so I hope it will improve a lot. In the meantime you can disable previews in the performance settings, set bilinear sampling to 0 and turn document into srgb document (type SRGB in search bar on the app), maybe that will help.

Also select different render api in the settings (General tab, if you have vulkan, maybe opengl will perform better, or vice versa)

Themes are also on our todo list, although it’s lower priority now so I can’t really tell when we’ll add that
